License requirements
- File with the Board an application duly sworn and on the form provided by the Board for such purposes.
- Be eighteen (18) years of age.
- Have passed at least the fourth year of high school or its equivalent in addition to having passed vocational or technical courses in electronics or Instrumentation, Biomedical and Communication Technician, offered by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, or by any institution accredited by the General Council of Education, or by any educational institution accredited by the federal government or by any state, possession or dependency of the United States.
- Pass the practical and theoretical exam offered by the Board.

- Two (2) 2 x 2″ photographs, recently taken.
- Two Internal Revenue receipts (yellow copy) or Official Receipt of Payment. One for the amount of $20.00 dollars to income figure 5140 and another for $30.00 dollars to income figure 5143.

- Certificate of criminal record, recently issued (six months duration).
- Certification of alimony from the Department of the Family (ASUME).
- Original and copy of birth certificate
License renewal requirements
- Two 2×2 photographs, taken recently.
- Two Internal Revenue receipts (yellow copy) or official receipt of payment. One for the amount of $10.00 dollars to income figure 5140, and another for the amount of $40.00 dollars to income figure 5143.
- Certification of alimony from the Department of the Family (Asume).
Provisional License/ Special License
- Be eighteen (18) years of age.
- Two (2) 2×2 photographs, recently taken.
- Two Internal Revenue receipts (yellow copy) or official receipt of payment. One for the amount of $10.00 dollars to income figure 5140, and another for the amount of $20.00 dollars to income figure 5143.
- Certificate or copy of high school diploma, equivalent issued by the Department of Education or higher degree obtained.
- Certificate or copy of the graduation diploma of vocational or technical courses offered by the Puerto Rico Department of Education, or by any institution accredited by the Federal Government or by any state, possession or agency of the United States.
- Original and recent criminal record certificate (This certificate expires after six months of issuance).
- Birth Certificate (Original).
- Certification of alimony from the Department of the Family (Asume).
